Green Cross Academy of Traumatology has deployed workers to assist Holiday Farm Fire first responders and survivors. Green Cross is a charity organization that provides mental health support to emergency responders, healthcare workers, and community members after traumatic events, such as fires, floods, and bombings. They work in association with the American Academy of Experts in Trauma Stress.
“I can tell you that the rescuers would sometimes be huddled in the bathrooms crying about what they experienced that day – declaring they could not go back out there. Our specialized support kept the number of animal rescuers up. We also did suicide and crisis intervention on several individuals that were likely to endanger themselves, their teammates, and the animals being rescued. Our crisis intervention helped reduce stress and moderate emotions for the well being and professionalism of the rescuers.”
